As it turns out, we may have just missed Camilla's first steps. :(

According to her sitter, Lucy, she had just taken 3 or 4 steps unassisted on the grass at a nearby park earlier this afternoon. This makes sense as lately Camilla's been standing on her own for a second before getting down onto her knees and scampering off on all fours, as well as shuffling a few paces here and there just on her knees. We'll do our best to capture this on camera and post the resulting video/pictures.

Update: In Lucy's professional opinion (formulated from working for many years with many children) some children don't like the attention they receive when they first start walking. She's observed many toddlers taking their first steps when they think no adult is looking. Being a first-time mom, I don't know this and my first instinct is to make a big deal...especially given that Camilla's 2 years old.

Last weekend, Camilla's Aunt Teresa and cousin Jacqueline came out to visit from Colorado for a weekend-long playdate.



The two cousins got along famously.

Wild horses could not drag this girl away from her beloved Teletubbies:

As pretty as she looks in it, she also looks funny crawling around in it:

In case anyone is wondering, that thing she picks up towards the end of the video is a Teletubbies DVD. The Teletubbies have become her obsession as of late.

For Mother's Day, we all drove down the coast to Big Sur. On the way there, we stopped at one of the beautiful beaches for a short walk.

There were lots of stuff at the beach for Camilla to explore:

There was sand to play with...

Rocks to climb on...

And more sand.

Upon arrival at Big Sur, we decided to go for a hike around Pfeiffer State Park. Well, except Camilla. She got to ride on her new hiking backpack

....and she was none too happy about it.

Camilla eventually forgot about being stuck in the backpack and ended up enjoying the whole excursion.
